Tosca's executive chef, Massimo Fabbri, creatively interprets traditional italian cuisine with a wonderful twist of flavors and textures. Tosca delivers a DC fine dining experience with minor sticker shock compared to the ultra-fine dining that DC offers (Tosca tasting menus range from $70-95, add $60 for wine; entrees are $33 to 44). They do deliver the goods - the steak tartar was perfect with a mild cheese ground in with the steak, a light touch of truffle oil, and an egg on top - delicious. Our wait person recommended the veal ravioli, and I whole-heartedly agree - just order it, the flavors are amazing without being too heavy or sauce laden. For dessert, you must try Tosca's interpretation of a Tiramisu - it's very light, almost like a souffle, no lady fingers, with an excellent amaretto flavor without being overpowering. If you like Italian - and maybe even if you don't - it's hard to go wrong with Tosca.
