During the summer, I thought this was prettier than (overcrowded) Tuolomne Meadows.
Leaving Yosemite, driving east on 120, the first valley was bright green, surrounded by green, forested mountains. Immediately following, was a spectacular rocky valley, of about the same size. Side by side, yet so vastly different that you'd think you were on two different vacations!
I saw people starting off on the hike at the first valley, but I didn't have time to go.
