Just came across the breads from this propriety at the Foothill Farmers Market at the Fountains in Roseville and I must say they are da bomb. Rye is my fav and it has such a clean flavor of rye. Mmmm mmm. I also purchased the Kalamata loaf and I assure you, there is no shortage of olives in this bread. Gosh, I can't wait to return and try the others.

Wow. We discovered this amazing artisanal bread at Ikeda's (a grocery and burger place just off Highway 80 in Auburn near the Bowman exit) on our way to Tahoe. As Bay Area residents, we have access to great bakeries like Acme and Tartine. Well, "Baker and the Cake Maker" really appear to be their equals. And they certainly have the credentials - the owners are CIA (Culinary Institute of America) graduates, one of the most prestigious schools in the nation. Back to the bread... We purchased the "Seeded Wheat". Both the crust and crumb were beautiful with hand-crafted qualities giving the bread a wonderful texture. And the flavor lived up to the texture (the ingredients are organic whole wheat flour, water, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, organic polenta, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, water, yeast, honey, sea salt). We are so pleased to have such a fine artisanal bakery right on our way to and from Tahoe. Although Ikeda's is very convenient, they have a limited selection of the Baker and the Cakemaker breads - now I'm very curious to visit the bakery itself to discover all of their breads. If you are "foodie" or just love great bread, you owe it to yourself to try their bread.
