The heart of Chicago's Little Italy is Al's Italian Beef, one of THE best sandwiches in America. A quick stop off the highway (Taylor exit) this is a mecca for food lovers and Chicagoans. There are other locations, but this is the original. Thinly sliced italian roast beef, served with sweet or hot peppers, wet or dry (go for the wet, but don't wear white clothes) this sandwich is heaven for meat lovers. It was featured this summer on the Travel Networks' Best Sandwiches in America.
Great news for the Bay Area, they are opening one in San Jose! You will see me there when it opens.
