We have a three-bay garage with solid fir rolling doors. One of the doors was rotting along the bottom. After many phone calls, there isn't a single garage door supplier that will repair a rotting panel. They will replace the whole door, or order a replacement panel that is a 'close' match. But none will repair a rotting panel.
With nothing to lose, I disassembled the door, removed the lower panel, and brought it to the local lumberyard where they neatly sawed off the rotted portion (about 2 inches) and supplied me with a new wood portion fashioned from a clear fir 2x4. I attached the new portion using a biscuit joiner. For about 90 minutes of effort, I had a perfectly repaired garage door. However, after re-assembling the door, I didn't know how to re-attach and tighten the coil springs.
From my earlier calling around, I remembered that Alert Door Services was the most helpful on the phone. So I had them come out to re-attach the springs.
Bottom line: Alert took great care of our garage door. After they were done, they also lubricated the garage door opener, track and rollers. Even though our garage door opener is at least 30 years old, they didn't try to up-sell me on a new opener. While they were there, they serviced the other two doors (lubrication and alignment) at no charge. Prompt, communicative, highly knowledgable, friendly, and clean and tidy while working. I couldn't have asked for better work or a better experience. We will definitely use Alert again for any future garage door needs.
Unlike many garage door businesses, Alert Door Services is not a franchise - they are a family-run business, and have been for the past three generations. They are also a family with strong ties to Hillsborough - a few generations back they lived and worked on the Skyfarm estate.
