I've had Wyndham Hodgson at Expert Stylus & Cartridge both re-tip and custom build styli for The Audio Archive (http://www.TheAudioArchive.com) over the years. They've mostly re-tipped Ortofon SPU Classic N (moving coil) cartridges and N44 styli for the Shure M44-7 cartridge (moving magnet) for us, and have done a great job. They will re-tip many different brands (Stanton, Denon, etc.).
Expert Stylus provides a wide choice of profiles (conical, elliptical, truncated) as well as their new proprietary Paratrace profile for LPs. They also provide a wide range of dimensions ranging from 0.7 mil to 7.0 mil, and most everything in between. I understand that they can also replace and repair cantilevers, although we've not used this service.
Turnaround can take 6-8 weeks or so, last time we had work done. But they are the only company in the world that provides this service, and have a constant backlog of work.
Paul Hodgson, Wyndham Hodgson's son, has been taking a growing role in the operations of Expert Stylus, and may likely be your primary contact these days. A phone call, or a fax to +44 (1372) 276-147 will be generally quicker than E-mail communication.
If you're in love with the sound of your vintage LP cartridge, they can make it sound as good as new or even better, depending on the stylus profile you choose. And if you're in the business of transcribing obsolete formats, there is no where else to get your styli.
