'In a time when medical care has taken on the rushed impersonal quality of an assembly line, Dr. Rabin focuses on education and preventive care...' This is how Dr. Rabin advertises himself, and it does seem to be true. He takes the time to discuss all aspects of your health. (Recommended a decent-tasting fiber bar!) Pays attention to details from your labs and answers all questions thoroughly.

He has now switched to a concierge practice. Minus 1 star for that. So he's not cheap, but still worth it.

Brad Rabin is a doctor like no other. He is knowledgeable. He collaborates with you. He really spends time actually listening to you. He is open to discussing articles you find on the internet or elsewhere. He gives out his cell phone number for emergencies and he answers the phone when you call!!!!!

Dr. Rabin is extremely thorough in all visits. He will monitor all your care. He makes excellent recommendations for specialists. He is cognizant of medical costs and does not do tests unnecessarily. If you want a specific test or procedure he will discuss pros/cons with you and together you determine the course of action; he is a collaborator. He is a joy to work with. He does the most amazingly thorough physicals.

I know this review is long but this guy is amazing!

Let me tell you just one story to illustrate our experiences with him -- My husband and I had gone to SF to attend a conference at one of the museums. During the talk he asked for my jacket during the talk to put across his legs - which was very odd. Later I could see he was shaking excessively and appeared very cold. He said, I have to go NOW. I asked if he wanted to get a hot drink at the cafe and he said, NO. I was concerned at this point because this was very unusual. He tried to go to the bathroom and said he couldn't; his back hurt too much. I got him into the car and headed home.

While going down 19th Avenue it occurred to me that I should call Dr. Rabin so I pulled off. This was Saturday morning on a 3 day holiday weekend. He immediately answered, told me to get Ralph home, get him warmed up and he would order antibiotics. So far so good.

About 10 pm, Ralph's fever spiked and he seemed really confused. He was stumbling when he walked. I called Dr. Rabin. He said go to the emergency room ASAP. The whole time my husband was saying he didn't want to go to the emergency room.

He had pneumonia and sepsis. Sepsis is when the bloodstream is over whelmed with bacteria. Blood pressure drops, and major organs and body systems including kidneys, liver, lungs, stop working properly.

My husband was immediately seen and treatment started. At 3 am he was transferred to Intensive Care Unit for 2 days and then 4 days in the main hospital.

I was told that if he had not been seen when he was it is very likely he would had died. My husband at the time was 53 years old, in great shape and in extremely good health.

I am eternally grateful that Dr. Rabin was available when I needed him. His calm manner was very reassuring throughout these stressful events.
