Barron's Mobile Knife and Shear Sharpening

Thank you!

Done
I have been a Custom Knife Maker for 20 years. I learned this old-time trade from many different knife makers throughout the country. My love for knives grew as my Dad and I collected and traded knives when I was a child. He showed me the proper handling and care needed to be a responsible knife owner. He also showed me how to sharpen and maintain an edge on knives and tools.

I professionally sharpen knives, scissors and tools for a wide range of customers. I discovered it is hard for customers to take time out to bring their knives to my shop for sharpening. So I started Barron's Mobile Sharpening Service - I and all my sharpening tools go directly to you to sharpen your items on site.

My prices are affordable, often less than taking your knives to a local sharpener. And being a knife maker I am also an abrasive specialist, always using the proper abrasives and never taking excess material off an edge that I sharpen. My work has won many awards for craftsmanship and quality.

Brian, the owner of Barron Knives, is no ordinary knife sharpener - he is an award-winning master knife MAKER, and is passionate about his craft. He takes knife, bit, shear and tool sharpening to a whole new level. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my tools, because he understands metals, grinding speeds, honing, polishing and cutting angles better than anyone I've worked with. I do woodworking (hobbyist), and sharp chisels and bits make for crisp joints and easy work. In particular, my expensive Forstner bits seem to get dull more quickly, especially the larger 1.5-inch or 2-inch bits. Brian most recently restored my Forstner bits to as good as new (the big bits run true, and they don't tear), for a fraction of the price of replacing them. And treat yourself around the holidays (or any time of year) with freshly sharpened kitchen knives - you won't regret it!

Called on a Sunday expecting to leave a voicemail to be called back on Monday, Not only did Brian answer the phone but he also was able to show up on the same day \Sunday\. The knives that we had to sharpen were high quality Henkel Knives that have not been sharpened in the 20 years that we have owned them. Brian is friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about knives as he is a MASTER Knife Maker ( a real Craftsman ). The care that he shows for the cutlery, from the way he carefully packed the knives in his canvas bag to transport to his mobile workshop parked in front of my home to the delicate way he handles the blades during the sharpening process shows a true passion for his craft. No charge for the visit, just a bargain price of $6.00 per blade, had 15 knives, took him just about a half hour and the knives cut better than when they were new. I will be having Brian visit me about once a year from now on, I highly recommend Brian as real Craftsmen are a dying breed.

Brian is diligent, professional, and a delight to work with. As his business states, he is mobile and will come to your home! Brian tuned up our cooking knives as well our gardening sheers. He did a great job, and was also very reasonably priced.

Brian Barron is incredible professional and custom knife maker, offering high level sharpening services at an extremely modest cost. The fact that he is able to bring his services directly to one's local area or home, by means of a van outfitted with a grinding station, is further proof of his commitment to customer satisfaction. I drove to Mr. Barron, not requesting door-to-door service, and was rewarded for the effort by meeting Mr. Barron and having my knives sharpened with the professional care they deserve.

I own a small collection of fixed blade woodcraft/hunting knives hand forged from pattern-steel (modern 'damascus'). These knives are produced on an individual basis, including grinding the blade by hand and finishing each with unique handles from high end materials (composite laminates, hard woods). Essentially, they are works of art in addition to being high grade tools. I was greatly concerned when looking for a means of sharpening the blades as I lack the personal skill to properly sharpen them myself. I can sharpen a production line knife till it shaves hair, but I didn't trust myself to maintain the profile on these higher end knives.

I stumbled onto Mr. Barron on the internet and I quickly discovered he was truly qualified to sharpen my hand crafted knives. Brian Barron is a custom knife maker, which is a craft that involves more skill and knowledge than many might realize (myself included). Knife making requires understanding of metalurgy, woodcraft, the use of resins/epoxies/adhesives, an artists eye, a deft touch, and incredible patience. Needless to say, he is more than capable of sharpening a knife blade, the last step in the long process of making a knife.

Mr. Barron was polite and a joy to converse with. He looked over the knives and discussed aspects of their build that helped me to more greatly appreciate the knives I own. I requested that he sharpen them all, but he noted that the majority were adequately sharp and selected only those that he believed truly required maintenance. This gesture exemplifies his professionalism; he could have just sharpened them all and maximized his return as I'd requested, instead he informed me of what was truly necessary, saving me money and preserving the knives against unnecessary wear.

The final results were beyond satisfactory. Each knife he sharpened is razor sharp, and should only require stropping to maintain the edge. In two instances he was able to touch-up/correct incomplete grind lines found near the tip of the knives, something a lesser craftsman would not have been able to achieve. The work exceeded my expectations.

In addition to having my knives tended to by a professional, I enjoyed talking to Mr. Barron. I came away respecting him for his commitment to his community, family, and craft. I learned a great deal about knife making and it has peaked my interest to the point were I've been researching steels, belt grinders, drill presses, and sanding grits...oh my

Mr. Barron sharpened several knives, a pair of garden shears, and a special saw for cutting shredded denim wall insulation. Not only was his service courteous and professional, it was quick, trouble free and very affordable. The knives and shears are just like new, and the special saw is better than new. From now on, no one else will get my sharpening business.

We have trusted Brian to sharpen all of our kitchen knives for over ten years. We cook a lot in our house, and Brian has kept our knives as good as new even with heavy usage. In addition, we have done occasional tool sharpening. Brian is a real craftsman, and hand made a custom fishing knife as a gift for my father.

Thanksgiving was around the corner, and I knew I needed to do something about my embarrassingly dull knives before then. So I took a bunch them to Brian, hoping he could work some magic, and did he! After some TLC from Brian, they were scary sharp.

Brian is the best! I gave him my Henkel 6-inch knife to sharpen. What came back was a miracle! I tried to sharpen that knife with my carbon knife sharper and it made it worst. Brian not only sharpened my knife, but he polished it too! What a nice guy!
